Kitchen Kicks

My future Mr. and I now officially have an apartment. It's all ours. He (Brian) will be living there during the summer until we are married. I am excited we already have a place because this gives us several months to get the place prepared. It is a cute apartment and I figure I can get away with decorating it pretty cute for pretty cheap. Cute and cheap, that's what we like.

We purchased a kitchen table. It is our first piece of furniture. And besides the table, our kitchen is quite bare. We have both been fantasizing over what we can do with all the wall space in the kitchen and we came up with a few good ideas. The best part about all of this is Brian has an eye for how to decorate as well. Something that guys rarely have. This, of course, is just one of the plethora of reasons why I love this boy.

We have plans to put a giant chalkboard on one wall of the kitchen. Brian has already looked into the supplies he will need to make it and it will be very affordable. Just to give you an idea, it may look similar to this:

One of the other walls is scratched up pretty bad at the bottom. So I have decided I want to keep the wall of scratches hidden with a sweet, little bench. So I am keeping my eyes peeled for an old bench I can fix up. I want to paint it a pale pink.

A pale pink and mint colored kitchen? Sound good? I think so. Especially with a glass of milk and cookies sitting at the table as well.

Kitchen, we'll give you some pampering and you'll look pretty chic in no time.

Triple Chocolate Brownies

Anything involving 'triple chocolate' in the title is my kind of baked good. I came across an amazing site (abountifulkitchen.com) and discovered this certain little brownie recipe. You can find the exact recipe I used right here.

Brian and I made these over the weekend when we were in need of a treat. They turned out just as amazing as the website made them sound! And if I can make amazing brownies out of this recipe then so can you. My cooking abilities are very lacking. At least I'm trying though, right? Right?

Brian and I liked these brownies so much, that we snuck some into the movie theater, along with two jugs of milk. Perfect movie snack. I will see soon enough if they can also make the perfect study snack. I just took another batch (are brownies called a batch?) out of the oven to take to a stats study sesh later tonight. Anything to make it through stats.

Roses Are Red

Or are they?

I am trying to bring in spring, covering my outfit with as many roses as possible. We will see if it actually works.

Sunday was not exactly a sunny day outside, but it was happy. I went to church and then spent the afternoon with my two favorite men: my daddy and fiance. I ended the night by doing henna tattoos with some of my lovely friends. I am always happy when I sport this outfit. It never fails to make me feel young and girly. So in other words, I guess I feel like I am fourteen instead of twenty. . .

But in all seriousness, I love this outfit of mine:

Not Another Fashion Blog

In the world of blogging, women everywhere are sharing their 'woman skills' with the rest of us. There are blogs about cooking, blogs about crafts, blogs about how to dress, blogs about looking and feeling pretty. This is another one of those blogs, except with a little twist. . . . .
I don't have any woman skills!!!
So this is where the unique part of this blog comes into play. This blog will be my journey of learning all the necessary woman skills.
I feel like I am at a weird time in my life. It is one of those transition times. Very awkward. Not quite as awkward as the transition from preteen to teen. We're not talkin' zits and the scrawny girl buying her first bra. We're talkin' the transition of being a girl to being a woman.
I am learning how to branch for beauty.
I will not act like an expert. Because I am not an expert. Within this blog, I will share my failures and my success. When I try a new recipe and I burn it, you will hear about it. When I wear an outfit and someone thinks it is hideous, I'll share that too. Because I have learned that there is even beauty in imperfection. Imagine that!
I hope you will enjoy my blog of trial and error, and maybe I'll even present a few good ideas that you will think about trying too.
Three cheers for being female!!
